Careers360: Please describe your life at NIT Patna in few sentences. What do you like the most?
Neelesh: It is the biggest achievement of my life that I am in NIT Patna. The best part of my life is being spent here with my friends. I really feel proud to be a part of this institution, which has good placements, and other technical, social & cultural activities. I am learning a lot here from my friends and professors. There is good unity amongst the students of NIT Patna.

Careers360: How do you divide your weekly time between your studies and other activities?
Neelesh: Generally, I try to enhance my technical skills during lectures and also through self-study. I am not able to devote much time to enhance my technical skills due to my busy schedule spent in organizing other technical and social activities in our college.

NIT-PatnaCareers360: How do you get to know about the latest happenings in the college? Is there any in-house magazine or something else for that?
Neelesh: As I am member of some clubs and societies of our college, I get to know all the latest happenings of our college. In fact, my job is to promote all the activities to the students of our college as well as in media since I am one of the Media Coordinators of our college. We also have our college magazine “Parallel World” for the same.

Careers360: What are the various clubs and societies in college? Are you part of any? Do you think they are beneficial for the students?
Neelesh: There are various types of clubs and societies in our college. For technical aspects, we have “Abhyuday”, “Conspiciens”, “Reading Club” and “Voltaire”. For social, we have NSS (National Service Scheme) and “Sankalp -NIT Patna”. For cultural activities, we have “Cultural Society”. For sports, we have “Sports Society”. We also have a “Photography club” as well. In addition to these, we have “IEEE-NIT Patna Chapter”, “ASME-NIT Patna” and “CSI-NIT Patna Chapter”.

I am the Coordinator for the Reading Club; Administrator of Sankalp-NIT Patna and a Member of the Sports Society (Basketball).

These clubs and societies are very beneficial for the students as they help students to increase their soft and hard skills. They provide a platform for students to expose and express themselves.

“The participation of students is very high. They love to participate in almost all the events. Generally, the participation ratio is high from 1st and 2nd year students.”
Careers360: Are there any regular events or functions that take place in your campus? How is the participation of students on such occasions?
Neelesh: We have four mega events in a year. Udjeevan (Freshers - for 1st year students), “Melange” (Cultural fest), “Parakaram” (Sport’s fest) and Corona (Techno-Management Fest). Besides these, the events of various other clubs take place every week.

The participation of students is very high. They love to participate in almost all the events. Generally, the participation ratio is high from 1stand 2nd year students. Students from other colleges are also invited to these events.

Careers360: Which are the best hangout spots at NIT Patna? What, according to you, are the most-visited places nearby the campus?
Neelesh: Canteens, Flyover, Ground and Student’s Activity Centre (SAC) are the main hangout spots at NIT Patna.

Patna Saheb Gurudwara, Gandhi-Ghaat, Gandhi-Maidan, Eco-Park, Water-Park, Gol-Ghar, Bhuddha Smriti Park and PnM Mall are the most-visited places nearby the Campus of NIT Patna.

NIT-Patna-1Careers360: What is your opinion about the infrastructure of the institution? How are faculty members, laboratories, mess, and everything else?
Neelesh: The infrastructure of NIT Patna is fine. Our college is about 127 years old. It is the 6th oldest Engineering College of India. The construction work in campus is ongoing for the development of auditorium and SAC. The faculty members are highly qualified and provide great knowledgeable lectures. We have good, well-furnished laboratories. The mess is similar as compared to other colleges under Ministry of Human Resource and Development (Govt. of India)- in poor condition.

Careers360:  How do you like to spend your leisure time? What are the most prominent activities in your campus?
Neelesh: During my free time, I like to hangout with my friends. Net Surfing, Social-Networking, playing basketball and studying (sometimes) are some of my other leisure activities.

The most prominent activities in NIT Patna are Placements, Cultural Fest, Sports Fest, Techno-Management Fest and Annual Day (28th January).

Careers360:Which other fun-things make your campus unique and interesting?
Neelesh: Gaming, band performances and online events of various clubs are the major fun events that take place every year. This year, the rock band “Underground Authority” is going to blow the stage of NIT Patna on 24th February, 2014.
