SCRA Admit card notification

The Union Public Service Commission will be conducting the Special Class Railway Apprentices’ Examination, 2013 on 20.01.2013 at various centres all over India as per notification. E-Admission Certificates are available on the Commission’s website http://www.upsc.gov.in. Candidates are advised to download and check their e-Admission Certificates carefully and bring discrepancy, if any, to the notice of the Commission immediately. Rejection letters citing the ground(s) for rejection have been issued through e-mails or speed post and also put on the Union Public Service Commission website http://www.upsc.gov.in. In case any difficulty faced by the candidates in downloading e-Admission Certificates, they may contact the UPSC Facilitation Counter on Telephone Nos. 011-23385271, 011-23381125 and 011-23098543 on any working day between 10.00 AM and 5.00 PM. The candidates can also send Fax message on Fax No. 011-23387310. No Admission Certificate will be sent by post.

In case the photograph is not printed clear on the e-Admission Certificates, candidates are advised to carry three (3) photographs (one identical photograph for each session) along with proof of identity such as Identity Card or Voter Identity Card or Passport or Driving License and printout of e-Admission Certificate at the venue of the Examination.
MOBILE PHONES BANNED
a) Mobile phones, pagers or any other communication devices are not allowed inside the premises where the examination is being conducted. Any infringement of these instructions shall entail disciplinary action including ban from future examination.
b) Candidates are advised in their own interest not to bring any of the banned items including mobile phones/pagers to the venue of the examination, as arrangements for their safekeeping cannot be assured.

Top NIT students will get chance to complete their B.Tech at IIT

Reportedly as per new proposal prepared the board of IIT directors has decided to permit National Institute of Technology (NIT) students to complete their B.Tech as well as their PhD at IIT in about five years

The proposal has not been finalised yet, On January 7, the proposal will be placed before the meeting of the Standing Committee headed by HRD minister M M Pallam Raju.
This new move will utilize the IIT resources optimally and also the IITs will be able to attract better students and groom them for their PhD programme, thus boosting the count of doctoral fellows.
How will it work
The IITs will identify bright students with a consistently outstanding performance in the first three years of their engineering course, look at recommendations from their teachers and evaluate their research potential through an interview

25% seats in IITs will be reserve for students from economically weaker section.

Reportedly from coming academic year IITs are going to increase annual fee for undergraduate programmes by 80 per cent – Rs.50,000 per annum to Rs.90,000 per annum. The fee hike is applicable for all students belonging to General category, no fee hike for SC/ST/OBC candidates.


Amid the hike in university fee, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) is mulling to provide 25 percent reservation to the students belonging to economically weaker section.
The premier institute is likely to reserve 25 percent seats for those students whose family’s annual income is not more than Rupees 4.5 lakh.The IIT will initiate new scholarship for the students to compensate for the tuition and other fee.
However, IIT council has not approved the proposal yet. The recommendations to provide scholarship have been made by Kakodkar Committee to IIT Council.

Robots will dance in Gangnam style at IIT-Bombay Tech fest

Year’s 1st and biggest annual technology event is going to start tomorrow at IIT-Bombay with lot of interesting things. No doubt it will be a great experience for all students.Participants will compete for cash prizes of over Rs 17 lakh.


Robots will show off their moves to the worldwide music hit Gangnam Style, by South Korean rapper Psy, expected to be most interesting moment of event.
The French humanoid firm, Aldebaran Robotics, will be exhibiting their robots for the first time in India at Techfest this year. ‘Netra’, a a phone that will enable us to test the power of the eye and Aakash – 2 and its features for educational purposes in the country will also be displayed at the festival.
This year for the first time in country, IIT Bombay will introduce the concept of silent disco. The disco will be open for all and for no charge. It will be aimed at solving the problem of noise pollution
What is Silent Disco
common name for a disco where people dance to music listened to on wireless headphones. Rather than using a speaker system, music is broadcast via an FM-transmitter with the signal being picked up by wireless headphone receivers worn by the participants. Those without the headphones hear no music, giving the effect of a room full of people dancing to nothing. Often two DJs compete for listeners. Silent discos are popular at music festivals as they allow dancing to continue past noise curfews.

IIT- Bombay students will develop new Apps for Aakash tablet

Reportedly Aakash tablet ‘world’s cheapest tablet cum computer’ is planned to go under further up gradation with new application and user interface. IIT Bombay students will develop application for Aakash 2 tablet.


First batch of one lakh Aakash – 2 tablets had been distributed successfully. The gamut of applications includes ProxyMITY, Clicker, Scilab and Spoken tutorials. All these applications are based on open source platform, where users can give inputs for modification or alteration of any application for its better functioning.
IIT-B and the National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NME-ICT) have already prepared a detailed plan regarding this.
