Tips from Mr Manoj Tanwar for AIEEE 2012 Applicants!! With thanks from his facebook update!!
With the AIEEE 2012 offline exam on the door, here are some tips to get that perfect score for AIEEE 2012:
First of all you need to understand that it is an unpredictable exam.
The number of questions asked in a certain subject and the marking
pattern followed change almost every year, what remains constant is the
accuracy and concentration level of the students while answering the
questions.
In 2011, 30 questions were asked in each subject with a
marking pattern of +4 and -1. The topper in the exam scored 345 marks
out of 360, and the cut-off marks for general category candidates was 48
marks. Scoring anything above 180 marks (about 50 per cent of the
maximum marks) would surely give you a nice branch in a good college for
such a paper. Hence, the mantras of success are:
• Read the instructions
carefully and devise a strategy. If a particular section of the paper
has no negative marking then do attempt questions from that section.
Remember that the exam tests your understanding of concepts as well as
speed in solving numericals.
• Aim to attempt at least 50 per cent
of the questions correctly. Read the questions for a maximum of two
times and move on to the next one if the question is still not clear.
For online candidates, if you feel you can come back and attempt the
question later, mark it for review.
All your preparation for the
board exams will now come handy here. If you had slogged for your board
exams and are confident of scoring above 80 per cent marks in physics,
chemistry and maths then you surely have a good chance in AIEEE.
Further, with IIT-JEE already behind you, even if you have not done well
there, it is the second lifeline. Remember the mistakes like not going
through the instructions, not reading the questions carefully, not
solving the questions carefully etc. were the main reasons for not so
good performance in IITJEE.
• If you solve questions properly keeping track of units etc. you have better chances of getting the correct answer.
• While attempting any question of organic chemistry, it is advisable
to write the complete structure of the molecule showing every pi bond
and the lone pairs.
• Although knowledge of subject is important,
what will matter more at this point is your right frame of mind, your
confidence and application of concepts learnt so far.
On, the D-Day,
ensure that you have your admit card ready. If you still haven’t
received this, then don’t panic. You can take a print-out of the card
from the AIEEE website alongwith two passport size photographs to your
examination center on the day of the exam. Remember, instead of worrying
about what you have not prepared, be confident about what you have
prepared. This will help you sail you through the AIEEE 2012.a
