Kapil Sibal - IIT reach a compromise: Top 5 facts

New Delhi: Faced with immense protests from the IIT faculty, Mr Kapil Sibal is meeting the IIT council today. This meeting was convened after two IITs - Kanpur and Delhi - rejected his 'one nation, one test' formula and decided to hold their own test. Sources now say that a compromise has been reached.
Here are the top 5 facts
  1. Class 12 Board marks will not be considered for entering the IIT. It is something that the IIT Senate has been demanding.
  2. 20 per cent of the top scorers from state boards will be eligible to take the Main entrance test. From them, 50,000 top scorers will be selected for taking the next level Advance Test.
  3. These two set of tests (main and advanced) will not be held on the same day.
  4. Advance Tests will be conducted by the IITs themselves.
  5. This new format could be implemented from 2013 (a change that Mr Sibal has been adamant about)
