The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will organise Group
Mathematical Olympiad (GMO) on December 7, 2014 in different parts of the
countries.
The students, who are currently studying in class IX - XI, can participate in
the competition. However, the question paper for all the students will remain
the same.
Schools interested to participate has to choose five students for the
screening test. In an effort to promote excellence in mathematics, the CBSE will
organise Group Mathematical Olympiad (GMO) on December 7, 2014 in different
parts of the countries.
Students selected by the school will have to pay a very small amount of Rs
100 as an entry fees for the examination, which will be in the form of demand
draft in favour of the venue, school, principal or co-coordinator. Last date of
applications for the examination is November 05, 2014.
The Olympiad will be held in one or two venues in each state for the
convenience of students.
The Olympiad will be conducted only in English language. Participants will be
examined on the basis of their knowledge in algebra, geometry, number theory,
combinatories etc.
The CBSE will select only 30 students on pan India basis and these students will get to appear in the Indian National Mathematical Olympiad conducted by NBHM.

The examination will be of three hours (1:00pm to 4:00pm) and the centers for
the examination are given in the circular uploaded by CBSE.
Mathematical Olympiad is the competition conducted by CBSE at regional, state
or international levels to identify, encourage, promote and nurture the talent
of students who perform exceptionally well in subject
