HYDERABAD: The Computer Society of India will hold its golden jubilee
celebrations and annual convention at the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological
University and Guru Nanak Institute of Technology campuses here between December
10 and 14.
Hyderabad Software Enterprises Association president Ramesh Loganathan told
reporters here on Wednesday that the convention would be for the benefit of
students as well as the industry.
The student summit, which will be held on the first two days of the
convention, will be organised at Guru Nanak Institute of Technology and attended
by former president APJ Abdul Kalam.
There will also be an e-governance summit
for senior government officials of the central and state governments.
There will also be ‘hackathon’ sessions where students from 30 colleges will
take part in in a series of competitions. “We want students to get excited by
the idea of hacking. We will organise 30 hackathon sessions on the same day and
the winner will have an opportunity to have breakfast with the former
president,” Loganathan said.
The event’s website was launched by information technology and communications
secretary Harpreet Singh. Students can register online for taking part in the
convention.
“Every year, nearly 60,000 students pass out of engineering colleges but
only 25,000 of them get jobs. We know there is a problem with faculty and
course content in several engineering colleges today. With the help of CSI and
Telangana Academy of skills and Knowledge (TASK), we plan to address them,”
Singh said.
