2013 – Year of great achievements for DTU

Delhi College of Engineering, DCE was incorporated as a non-affiliating teaching-cum-research university through Delhi Act 6 of 2009. DTU has successfully completed its four years and the
year 2013 has been full of achievements in terms of Placements, Innovations, faculty publications and R & D. The major achievements of DTU in the year 2013 include:
(1) In total 176 companies had visited DTU for placements in 2013-14 academic session and had made more than 900 job offers and many students had more than one job offer in hand.
The recruiters include leading MNC’s like EPIC, Google, Samsung, Cisco, Microsoft Texas Instruments, Walmart Labs, Goldman Sachs, Samsung Research, Amazon, Adobe, Directi, Cisco, C-Dot, Infibeam, Qualcomm, Futures First, HT Media and RBS to mention some.
(2) DTU has signed MOU with leading Government organizations for R&D projects including DMRC, INMAS, CRRI, leading software companies Samsung Electronics and world class universities including University of Birmingham, University of Southern Florida.
(3) DMRC has established Metro Research & Testing Lab at DTU and DTU has Launched M.Tech (Power Electronics) Part-time Program for eight DMRC employees.
(4) On the student innovative product design there has been major rise of innovations at DTU, be it the Unmanned Aircraft, Hybrid Vehicle, Broadband-over-Power Lines or the most recently
‘A Cycle Operated Washing Machine’ and DTU Solar Car.
(5) Five new PG programs have been added in emerging areas of Engineering and Technology highly relevant to the industries. These programs include areas such as Computational Design,
Renewable Energy Technology, Industrial Bio-technology, Bio Medical Engineering, and Nuclear System Technology.
(6)There has been a significant rise in Research Publications by the faculty and the students and that the online counselling for B.Tech admissions has attracted much higher ranks of JEE
this year compared to last year.
(7) M.Tech admissions have also witnessed high GATE Scores, in most courses ranging between 99.7 to 98 percentile.
(8) Ph.D Scholarships have increased from 50 to 100.
(9) This year the DTU figured No. 9 among the Top 10 Best Engineering institutions in the country in highly reputed surveys (Outlook) including the IITs. In placements DTU figured at No.
1 leaving a good number of IITs behind while in RoI DTU figured at No. 2.
Speaking on this occasion, Prof. Sharma said that, “With its focus on industry relevance and its sustained quest for excellence, Delhi Technological University, DTU is marching ahead to
become a global leader in engineering and technology education, research and innovations and we look forward to upsurge of the ever rising spirit of innovation and commitment to march on
the pathways of excellence. Pursuit of excellence demands unconditional commitment and fullest dedication while at the same time paying greatest attention to minutest details”. The next
year plan includes:
– Ph.D. scholarships increased from 100 to 200.
– Strong industry interface and techno-entrepreneurship.
– Setting up of Centers of Excellence in Cyber Security, Medical Engineering, New and Smart Materials, Clean Energy Technologies, Concrete Technology and Construction Management Centre, Centre for Information Integrity and Cyber Security.
– Greater Engagement of Alumni into transforming DTU into a Global Knowledge Enterprise.
