According to sources Maharashtra is all set to open state’s first Indian Institute of Information Technology in Nagpr. Reportedly this IIIT will start from next academic year.
This IIIT will be established under PPP model. The centre would be providing Rs100 crore, state Rs35 crore while Rs20 crore would be pumped in by the TCS for setting up the centrally-sponsored institution.
There were two options to set IIIT in Maharashtra, either in Pune or in Nagpur, but in Nagpur one of the major problem was such a big land, so only Nagpur proposal was discussed.
