According to sources NITs are ready for 100% fee hike from next academic year, council of NITs has already approved this fee hike proposal from 35,000 to 70,000.
Presently fee structure is not uniform across all 30 NITs, in some of the NITs, annual fee is less than Rs 30,000 per annum. With this fee hike a uniformity has been brought.
NIT Council also decided that 10% non-creamy layer OBC students would get a fee waiver of 50%. An NIT director said, “Accreditation is always a good idea. It helps in correcting mistakes and improving quality. This is being done so that India can become a member of the Washington Accord.”
