IIT-BHU organizes panel discussion on 'Eco Chem'

Chemical Engineering Society, Indian Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University (IIT-BHU) organised a panel discussion under the forum 'Eco Chem' at Gopal Tripathi auditorium, IIT-BHU on Thursday.

In order to lower the amount of environmental degradation such as problem of water pollution by paper industries which disturb the biological oxygen demand and pollution created by dyes and pigment manufacturing industries, several problems faced by chemical industries were discussed at length on the occasion.

Prof RS Dubey emphasised the biological methods of curbing pollution in the water. He informed that researches are being carried out for developing cost efficient natural substitute for artificial dyes. He said the natural dyes have a long lasting luster and does not fade out easily. Experts also spoke on plastic substitution, cross linking of various research fields and others.

Prof PK Mishra, Prof KK Srivastava, Prof VK Tiwari, student coordinator, Devansh Wadhawa, Himanshu Jain and several others were present on the occasion.
