IIT-Kanpur's helicopter service to Lucknow begins

The IIT-Kanpur became the first institute in the country to provide air connectivity between two cities. The helicopter service between the institute and Lucknow was inaugurated on Thursday. The inaugural ceremony was held at the institute to launch the services of Pawan Hans helicopter.

The function was held at the runway of the flight club in the presence of IIT-K director Indranil Manna, Anil Srivastava, CMD, Pawan Hans and joint secretary, ministry of civil aviation, members of Merchants Chamber of Uttar Pradesh, including its secretary general Anita Jha and IM Rohtagi, industralist Irshad Mirza, faculty members and students. The helicopter took off during the inaugural ceremony to mark the start of the service. From June 1, the services will be available initially to the people of IIT-K.

The authorities of Pawan Hans said that it is a matter of pride that Pawan Hans has taken the initiative to launch its helicopter services between IIT-Kanpur and Lucknow. IIT-K has been declared as the institute of national importance by the Union government. Pawan Hans, known as Asia's premier helicopter company, understand the importance of education and helicopters. This business model of Pawan Hans 'Pawan Hans-Connect IIT' will give a boost to knowledge sharing in today's faster mode of connectivity among other IITs and business schools with helicopters which will also give access to academicians, foreign faculties, professionals, MNCs and students to promote/share knowledge through a faster mode of travel.

The occasion for launching Pawan Hans services for IIT-K has created the right atmosphere for establishing a significant relationship between Pawan Hans and the institute. The event would also trigger series of steps towards establishing air/helicopter connectivity between other educational Institutes like IIMs and IITs in the country. This service will provide IITians & local business associates to travel across the locations efficiently and in a time-bound manner while keeping in mind the value of time and cost.

Students will get more corporate exposure from leaders in its class. Both the organization may take the leverage of technology in aviation. It may give more flexibility to academicians and professional with less travel time. The experience and expertise of Pawan Hans has been developing.
