4th year Engineering student jumps from 7th floor, dies on spot

Reportedly a final year engineering student of Mukesh Patel College of Engineering jumped from the seventh floor of the college on Tuesday evening. No suicide note was found but the incident was captured on CCTV.
College students in the compound heard a thud and as they turned to see what happened they found the body lying in a pool of blood. The students took the boy to the nearby Cooper hospital, where he was declared dead.
Police has registered a case of accidental death. As of now it seems to be a suicide case. Reason behind his death is unknown till now. The police will check the student’s mobile phone records and even examine whether there was any ragging. The boy’s family has been informed.
Amrish Patel, president of Shri Vile Parle Kelvani Mandal that manages the college, said, “The incident has taken place on the college premises, but ragging could not be a reason for the death as we have strict measures in place on the campus and at the hostel.” He said that the college has support systems including counselors to assist students who might suffer stress. “But it seems that Chakravarthi did not seek any help,” Patel said.
