The Asian Science Camps aim at enlightening science talented youths through discussion and dialogue with top scholars in the world and promoting international friendship and cooperation among the best young students of the next generation in Asia, Australia and Oceania. The Asian Science Camp would invite Nobel Laureates and world class scientists as speakers and devise an interesting program to the participants. The program would include plenary sessions, round table discussions, student master dialogues, a creative poster competition, social events and excursion.
Asian Science Camp 2013 is the seventh of the series. The previous camps were successfully held at Taipei (2007), Bali (2008), Tsukuba (2009), Mumbai (2010), Daejeon (2011) and Jerusalem (2012). ASC 2013 will be held in Japan during August 25-30, 2013 involving over 200 students from all over Asian countries.
Every year the Department of Science & Technology (DST), Government of India is extending its support to 25-30 bright Indian students to participate in the ASC. The DST will cover all expenses towards (i) their travel to Tsukuba and back (from Bangalore), (ii) Domestic travel by 3rd AC to Bangalore and back. There will be no registration fee and the camp organising committee will provide the participants local hospitality at the camp in Tsukuba, Japan.
In this regard nominations from educational institutions are invited/obtained of 2-3 students who are pursuing basic Science course in the 1st year of B.Sc / B.S. / Int. M.Sc. / M.S. program during the academic year 2012-13. The students have to be outstanding in Mathematics or natural sciences including Physics, Chemistry and Biology. The students should -
1. be KVPY/INSPIRE Fellow
2. have proficiency in oral as well as written English and show a genuine interest in Science and Research
3. be able to attend the ASC – 2013 for the full duration
4. have a passport valid at least till end of February 2014 for travel to Tsukuba, Japan and
5. have consent from parents for participating in the ASC – 2013 at Japan
