Top ten study abroad destinations of Indian students

Rohit is a bright student. He scored well in his Boards also. Even though Rohit and his parents were satisfied with the score, it couldn’t fetch him an admission in his favourite college for the preferred course. One of the family friends gave Rohit the idea of studying abroad. Now, he is all set to join for an undergraduate course in a top University in Australia.
Rohit represents a group of bright students in India who fails to get into the best colleges and Universities due to the high competition and irrational cutoffs. Most of these students try foreign shores to get a degree. The Indian students are warmly welcomed by the foreign universities as they are class apart in terms of hardwork and brilliance. With increasing number of students going abroad or higher studies, India has become a major supplier to the international education market.
As students becoming more aware about the overseas education opportunities, the major study abroad destinations also change over the period of time. A decade back, the list of favourite study abroad destinations for Indian students had only the countries such as the UK, the USA and Australia. But today, with the changing trend, the students are experimenting with new countries and courses to get a degree.
There is a pattern followed in choosing the countries to study abroad, saysPooja Juyal, Assistant Manager-ACS (Admissions Counselling Services), Manya Education (P) Limited. “While most of the students who want to do Business and Management course flock to the US, the students who wish to pursue Arts and Social Sciences prefer the UK. The favourite haven for the Engineering and Banking students is Australia. Singapore is a major emerging study destination among the Indian students due to various reasons such as less cost and quality education at par with the European countries, the US and the UK. Also, the country has location advantages as for many students; it is very close to home,” says Pooja.
