Students, who appeared for the Joint Entrance Exams (JEE)-Main, should not worry as experts will be looking into alleged errors in, both, the pen-paper and the computerised versions of the exam, officials from the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) who conduct the test, have said.
Tuesday was the first computer-based paper of JEE-Main after Sunday's pen-paper test for which coaching classes had estimated between eight and 20 marks worth of possible errors.
"Students shouldn't worry, our experts will definitely look into it before finalising the answer key," said Vineet Joshi, chairperson of the CBSE. He said he had not heard of any complaints about Tuesday's test. Answer keys are the solutions to the exam questions that the CBSE will release after the final computer-based test is held on April 25.
On Tuesday too, students claimed there were errors, but this could not be verified with others because the question paper was only available online at the time of the test.
"My son faced some ambiguous and wrong sounding questions, but how will we verify this?" said one parent. "The students who don't have their question papers will not know. All we are saying is that the system should be transparent."
This is the first level test for entry into the IITs and will also determine admission to the National Institutes of Technology and other centrally funded institutes. Around 44,000 students sat for the paper on Tuesday across 303 testing centres.
