JEE 2014: Propsed subjective pattern, No need to write long answers

Subjective pattern proposed by IIT-B from 2014 but not 100% subjective

Indian institute of technology, Bombay proposed subjective pattern for IIT entrance 2014 and it has been already approved by IIT Bombay senate and forwarded to all other senates for their review on this proposal.

Proposed subjective format

As per proposed subjective format, aspirants will not have multiple choice questions; it will be subjective but students will not have to write long answers in the proposed pattern. They have to solve the question but not step wise. For descriptive question, question will be asked in the form of fill in the blanks and students have to fill it. Presently also n the exam students get some question where they have to fill the blank and to fill the correct option they have four choices, but in proposed format students will not have any choice.
Once the proposal is approved by other senates, it will be presented at the joint admission board meeting.

Why this change is required

In the multiple-choice test, it is difficult to determine the students’ understanding of the subjects, a professor from the institute said. “A right answer can be arrived at by smartly eliminating three wrong ones. Students should be able to solve the problems independently; then their performances can be judged,” said the professor.
