Slowdown is effecting this years campus placements also. According to sources number of job offers in many institutes have decreased drastically. Top companies are coming to campus but not offering jobs to students. For example in a Mysore college, National Institute of Engineering, only 75 students have got job offers till now, last year this number was 150. Institute told that top 25 companies have already visited the campus during placements season but not offered jobs to many students.
Hiring by the manufacturing and core engineering companies has gone down to 40%. Software companies’ recruitment too is not much encouraging, they told.
The engineering graduates, who failed to make it during the campus drives, will try their luck during Off campus drive as they don’t have any other option
