A woman, Pavitra Bhardwaj who worked in BR Ambedkar College as a lab assistant in chemistry lab died in hospital after she set herself on fire outside the state government headquarters nearly a week ago. She left a suicide note alleging sexual harassment by the principal of BR Ambedkar College Mr. GK Arora.
She was continuously complaining of sexual harassment by the principal to Delhi police and University, Police questioned Principal GK Arora, but enough evidence was not there. After police complaint she went to Delhi University but inquiry from University side was not complete yet.
“She had been harassed for over three years,” said her husband, Dharmendra Bhardwaj, a head constable with Delhi police, “even the police did not take our complaint seriously…now we just want justice.”
