JEE Main results were declared on May 7th, CBSE declared list of top 1.52 Lakhs students in JEE Main who were eligible for JEE Advanced. Reportedly 25000 students who are eligible to appear for JEE Advanced are not writing test.
Various reasons behind this are listed below:
1. Some students are eligible for JEE Advanced but they are not under top 20 percentile in their respective boards, so they are not writing test.
2. Many candidates filled the forms as Other Backward Class (OBC) candidates but they fall in categories that are on the OBC list in their own states and not in the central list, so they will not be eligible.
3. Some students are eligible for JEE Advanced but they want admission in their state engg colleges only, so they will not sit for JEE Advanced.
