NIT Calicut: Change of Branch criteria for second year students

The detailed rules on change of branch as per B. Tech. Regulations of the Institute are given below:
Note: These rules are applicable for students currently in 2nd year of their B.Tech and might be change for academic year 2013-14

  • As an incentive for excellent academic performance in the first two semesters, a limited number of students will be allowed transfer to branches of their choice.
  • All students who have successfully completed the first two semesters of the courses in the first attempt with CGPA of not less than 8.00 will be eligible for consideration for change of branch.
  • Maximum number of inward transfer allowed to a branch is two while the maximum number of outward transfers from a branch is also two, as per R5.2 above.
  • If a student with a higher CGPA is not offered a particular branch because of other constraints, this shall not be offered to any other students with a lower CGPA even if he/she is eligible on the basis of existing norms.
  • Pass or fail in OT courses will not be considered for change of branch.
  • Change of branch rules is subject to revision from time to time and the decision of the Senate will be final and binding.
