Alumni meet of IIT-K in Delhi from March 3

The Alumni Association of IIT-Kanpur is organising alumni convention of the institute in IIT-Delhi from March 3. Reserve Bank of India governor D Subbarao, an alumnus of IIT Kanpur, will be the chief guest. The aim of holding convention in New Delhi is to ensure maximum participation.

Alumni convention spokesperson Shantanu Srivastava said that the directors of IIT-K Indranil Manna and IIT-D RK Shevgaonkar, four IIT-K alumni who received Padma Bhushan/Padma Shri awards this year, many distinguished alumni, who are leading functionaries in government, public, private and corporate sectors would participate in the function.More than 1,000 participants from both India and abroad are expected to participate. It is likely to be the biggest IIT-K alumni convention.

"The alumni and their families from all over the world will be able to meet, interact with each other and explore how the association can be made more vibrant and useful for the institute and the nation," he said.The convention will have less speeches and more interaction and entertainment programmes for the alumni and their families. The Convention is being organized by the Alumni Association of IIT Kanpur Outer Delhi Chapter on behalf of the Alumni Association IIT-K. "The alumni willing to take part in the convention can get details about the program and the registration procedure from the convention website www.iitkaaconvention.org or the alumni association website www.iitkalumni.org," he added.

The alumni association of IIT-K conducts meeting every year during winters. This time, the association is holding the convention outside the campus. The institute is having a network of over 23,000 alumni. The alumni association holds importance for the institute as IIT-K gets hefty donations, which are utilised in the development of infrastructure other projects.
