IIT-Kanpur students organise eye checkup camp

The VivekanandaSamiti of IIT-Kanpurorganised an eye checkup and free medication camp at NavSrijan School Village, Ratanpur, near IIT-Kanpur on Sunday morning.

The camp was conceptualized and organized by students of IIT-Kanpur in association with volunteers of Shiksha Sopan, an NGO working for the education of underprivileged children of villages around IIT-Kanpur.

The IIT-Kanpur students informed that while Dr Anju Mishra, a city ophthalmologist and her team analyzed the villagers for eye problems, physicians from Ramakrishna Mission Hospital oversaw the proceedings and also provided free medication. The camp saw more than 100 villagers registering for the free services. Patients with cataract issues will be further treated at Ursula Hospital free-of-cost.

One of the students asscociated with the social cause said that this camp was the sixth in a series of camps planned by CHS, Vivekananda Samiti in association with Shiksha Sopan as part of Gymkhana Golden Jubilee Celebrations. The next camp is scheduled on March 17 at Nankari village near IIT Kanpur, he added.
