Reportedly on sunday night Namita, a 2nd year engineering student of the National institute of technology Jamshedpur committed suicide by hanging herself from ceiling fan in her hostel room. No suicide note was found in her room.
The incident came to light when her roommates went to their room after attending the ongoing college festival Utkarsh. After knocking at door for nearly half an hour, the girls panicked and called the warden of Ambedkar Girls hostel. Warden Dr Prabha Chandra was forced to break the door after even her calls went unanswered. When they broke through, victim Namita was hanging from the fan.
She was immediately taken to TM Hospital, where she was declared brought dead. Her parents were informed of unfortunate incident on Sunday night itself.
