Utkal University will not hold separate entrance test for admission to professional courses. In stead, it would select candidates from Odisha Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE), post graduate council chairman PK Mishra said here on Saturday.
"There was some confusion on whether OJEE authorities will allow drawing students from its pool. The confusions are cleared after a letter from the OJEE. We will not hold separate entrance test for our professional courses such as MBA and MCA," said Mishra.
There are around 1,000 seats in different professional courses of the university, including engineering, MBA, MCA and pharmacy. Mishra had earlier announced that the varsity might conduct a separate examination.
Meanwhile, the Odisha Private Engineering College Association (OPECA) on Saturday requested the Policy Planning Body (PPB), the apex decision making body on admission matters in technical colleges, to exclude International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) from OJEE counseling.
In a memorandum addressed to the PPB, OPECA secretary Binod Dash said since IIIT did not come under the fee structure committee, and held a separate M Tech admission test, it should be excluded from OJEE counseling for BTech admission.
