admissions to various technical institutions in UP on Sunday. Conducted by the
Uttar Pradesh Technical University (UPTU), the exam was held at held at 262
centres in 31 cities in four shifts. While 1.55 lakh candidates were registered

including pharmacy, fashion designing, hotel management and others.
According to SEE officials, 3% absenteeism was reported in the exam. In Lucknow, around 15,000 candidates took the exam at 28 centres. In B Tech, 65% of the total seats will be filled through SEE while admissions on 20% seats will be done JEE (Mains). The remaining 15% seats are reserved for management quota.
Engineering aspirants walking out of various examination centres gave a positive feedback on the question paper. While chemistry and biology carried easy questions, for most (whom TOI spoke to), Physics proved a damper. The question paper was of 600 marks which carried 150 questions of four marks each. There is no negative marking for any wrong answer.
"Questions from Physics were tricky and time consuming. Questions on topics like optics, vector and magnetic were tough. Biology section was comparatively easy which raised hopes of good marks,'' said Jyoti Yadav. Another aspirant, Manish Singh said, "The paper was balanced. Some questions from Inorganic Chemistry were tough. But overall, the paper was satisfactory.''
Candidates said mock papers helped them put up a good show. "Easy paper has raised chances of a high merit list,'' said Nitin, an engineering aspirant.
As fixed up by the state government, a general category candidate needs to obtain 25% marks to qualify for the exam while a SC/ST candidate will have to secure 20% of the total marks.
The engineering exam was held from 7.30 am to 10.30 am, architecture was conducted from 12.30 pm to 2.30 pm. Hotel management and fashion designing exam was scheduled from 3 pm to 4.30 pm.
