The chemical engineering department of IIT, Guwahati, is all geared up to host its first-ever festival themed 'Cleaner Energy, Greener Tomorrow' from Saturday.
The two-day festival is being organized to find ways to preserve energy. "One of the prime mottos of the festival is to find new energy sources to meet the increasing demand for energy. The festival aims at bringing together academicians, students and industrialists associated with chemical engineering," said Pritam Sharma, head of media relations of the festival.
The inaugural version of the festival titled Reflux 1.0 hopes to start off with a bang. "With the campus already abuzz with excitement and entries for online competitions flowing in, Reflux 1.0 promises to be a grand start," Sharma said.
Despite being a departmental festival, the events are tailored to attract a wide range of participants from a variety of fields, the organizers said. Other events that are scheduled in the two-day festival are workshops, panel discussions, lectures and quizzes.
"Some of the events of the fest include paper and poster presentation, wherein students will get an opportunity to exhibit their original research work and process design problems, where the participants will be required to provide an optimized and economically viable solution to problems related to the process and refinery industry," Sharma said.
Considering the role chemical engineering will have to play in solving tomorrow's problems, the festival is aptly themed 'Cleaner Energy, Greener Tomorrow', he added. "Reflux 1.0 will highlight research ideas and strategies that take a step in the right direction," he said.
