IIT Indore students developed software to get information about your heart status by smart phone

Many kind of smart phones are available these days in the market and very soon you can use a high end smart phone as a diagnostic device to get status about your heart, currently technique is being developed by Indian Institute of Technology, Indore (IIT-I). This research is going on under guidance of Shivnarayan Patidar and Prof Ram Bilas Pachori of IIT Indore. They have developed a world class software to detect disorders in the heart without a doctor’s help.

A person can install this software in a high tech smartphone or use an electronic stethoscope capable of tapping heart signals to diagnose whether there is any disorder in the heart , told Shivnarayan.
They thought in this direction because major population of the country is rural and lacks proper diagnosis at desired time due to non-availability of experienced medical professionals and infrastructure. This discovery would help in checking heart diseases in a big way.
Algorithm:
The algorithm of this software is based on study of statistical properties of Fundamental Heart Sounds (FHS) and murmur used to constraint the Tunable Q-Wavelet Transform (TQWT) for segmenting reconstructed murmurs which are produced through pre- processing of cardiac sound signals.
The reconstructed murmurs, when segmented into heart beat cycles, make the person aware of the disorder.
