According to sources Technical Education department has sent the final project report for new IIIT in lucknow to MHRD department for approval. Most probably IIIT in Luknow will be approved by month end and the construction work will begin next month.
By this UP state will get second IIIT in state, first IIIT is in Allahabad. For this, the state government has already handed over 50 acres land to the technical education department. This IIIT is proposed under public-private partnership PPP model, the investment sharing will be on 50:35:15 basis. While the Central government will take care of 50% of the total cost, the state government will invest 35%. The selected private player will put in the remaining 15%. In Lucknow’s case, UP Electronics Corporation (UPEC) is chosen as the private partner.
The proposed IIITs will have special emphasis on post-graduate programmes and research and development, says the report.
