9 from Gujarat, 5 from Ahmedabad make it to IIT Gandhinagar

As many as five students from Ahmedabad joined the new academic year at Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar on Monday. Total nine students from Gujarat have enterd into IIT-Gandhinagar. Out of the five Amdavadi boys, three have opted for mechanical engineering while the other two have taken up chemical engineering.

"I wanted to be at IIT Bombay but with my rank I couldn't make it. My parents are very happy that I got into an IIT closer to home", said Jainidhi Maurya whose did his twelfth from H B Kapadia High school and is from Memnagar.

Sangita Shah had quit her job at AMC so that she can help her son study well and get in to an IIT. With her son Jugal now into IITGN she is joyous beyond measure. "I wanted my son to be near me and my wish is fulfilled", said Shah. She added happily, "Why shouldn't our sons study in IIT, aapdu Gujarat, aapdu amdavad, aapdu campus".

Bhumil Acharya shifted from Vastrapur to Chandkheda after he got admission in IITGN. "I live with my mother so it doesn't make much of a difference if it's Vastrapur or Chandkheda", said Acharya who got an AIR of 553 in JEE in SC category.
