Kapil Sibal wanted to be memorable but what happened at last!!

Kapil Sibal
Ex HRD minister Kapil sibal did some major changes during his period in HRD ministry. Some major changes that were implemented during his period in HRD department are :
1. The CBSE Class X board examination was made optional. Now class X students from CBSE schools have choices to either sit for board examinations or appear for home school examination.
2. One of the biggest and major change in higher education of India was implemented last year. He merged two biggest engineering entrance examinations of India into one exam.
IIT JEE + AIEEE = JEE
Reasons he gave behind this major change are:
1. To Reduce burden of students due multiple engineering entrance examination.
He wanted to introduce a single exam for all engineering colleges across the country but final output was completely different.
Result – Kapil sibal merged two exams AIEEE and IIT JEE into one but again it was a two tier examination to get entry in IITs, JEE Main + JEE Advanced.
If a student want to take admission in IITs, then he should be under top 1.5 lakh students in JEE Main only then he can appear for JEE Advanced. It means to get admission in IITs from this year students have to appear for two examinations
Also other deemed universities like BITS Pilani, VIT, SRM rejected to merge into JEE.
2. To give school education more importance and reduce dependency on coaching classes
In new criteria if a student want to take admission in IITs, he/she should be under top 20 percentile in their respective boards only then he/she will be eligible to get admission in IITs
Final merit list for other engineering colleges will be prepared by giving 40% weightage to XII board marks and 60% weightage to JEE Main score.
Result – They introduced board weightage into final JEE score, but failed to implement a method that can calculate normalised board marks of all students across the country in correct way. A committee of experts was set to prepare normalisation formula that can bring all boards on the same platform and after that a committee of 5 members was set to approve that. They announced normalised formula in May this year and its in controversies since then.
Because of the top 20 percentile factor 80 deserving candidates could not take admission in IITs this year.
Hundreds of students crying because of this and many of them have already filed cases against CBSE.
Top 10 in JEE main examination was not even under top 300, when CBSE announced final meri list.
CBSE chairman Vineet Joshi said the confusion was because it was the first year. Stress on Boards marks had thrown up interesting results, he added. “Preliminary analysis of data reveals this year NITs will have a bigger representation of women and those from rural and semi-rural backgrounds .” The new system should continue . “But genuine concerns should be addressed.”
