Delhi boy 4th in IIT entrance

Delhi boy Kartikeya Gupta made it to the list of top 10 successful candidates in the first JEE (Advanced) exam conducted for admission to the Indian Institutes of Technology. With a score of 323 out of a total of 360, Gupta is the all-India fourth rank holder and Delhi topper.

Now planning to pursue computer science either from IIT Delhi or IIT Bombay, Gupta has completed his Class XII with an aggregate of 93% and scored 99 in mathematics.

"I studied for 10-12 hours a day during holidays and for five to six hours during school days. I am planning to pursue computer science from either IIT Delhi or Mumbai," said Gupta.

An alumnus of Upras Vidyalaya, Gupta comes from a family of IITians with his brother pursuing his undergraduate engineering degree from IIT Delhi at present. A resident of Netaji Nagar, Gupta has been academically bright throughout. He was an NTSE scholar and won the national level chemistry Olympiad last year and astronomy Olympiad in 2011.

Apart from academics, Gupta is into music, too, and plays the tabla.

Another topper from Delhi zone is Anand who is the third all-India rank holder. A resident of Ratlam district of Madhya Pradesh, he had only appeared for the exam from Delhi zone.
