JEE Main online counselling, first round of seat allotment is scheduled to be out by today 5.00 pm, all the processes from csab are running as scheduled and in the mean time students who have filed petition against normalisation formula are getting more tensed as they are not sure about their future. No action from Delhi high court on this petition has taken yer. On Monday high court postponed petition against normalisation, the petitioners will now move to supreme court. They are expected for Supreme court hearing in next week.
All over the country students and parents are criticising this normalisation formula introduced by CBSE and IIT jointly.
Flaw in current normalisation formula
Currently 60% weightage is given to XII board normalised marks and 60% to JEE Main score for calculation of JEE Main final score.
Total JEE Main marks – 360
40% of 360 = 144
40% of 360 = 144
It means 40% board marks carries a weightage of 144 marks out of the total 360 marks.
In the normalisation formula, 50% board marks will be normalised by equating percentiles among different boards and anchoring them to the main all India JEE percentile.
For the calculation of this, CBSE and the ministry of human resource development (MHRD) decided to calculate each student’s percentile scored in his/her board and give marks corresponding to that percentile in the JEE (Main) exams.
However, students were concerned that this process could result in a student with a high JEE (Main) score and a slightly lower score in their boards, to get a much lower rank than a student securing higher board marks and lesser JEE (mains) marks.
