OJEE: Engineering counselling likely from June 10

Online registration for counselling for admission into various professional courses under Odisha joint entrance examination (OJEE) is likely to begin on June 10.

According to the tentative timeline prepared by the state government, three rounds of counseling will be held. The first phase of counseling will be conducted from June 10 to 29. The second-phase for vacant seats will be held from July 5 to 10 and a third round between July 15 and July 20. "We will try to stick to the tentative schedule. The government will take a final decision within a day or two," said OJEE secretary Priyabrata Sahoo.

Sahoo said the OJEE authorities are finalizing the seat matrix of various colleges. The government is also planning to increase the number of nodal centres to 25. There were 20 centres last year. As against Rs 16,000 towards part-admission fee during counselling last year, the aspirants are now required to pay only Rs 5,000.

There are around 3,000 seats in nine government colleges, nearly 800 more than last year. The 98 private colleges have around 42,200 seats. Over 62,000 students have qualified the OJEE for admission against 44,000 seats in around 110 colleges.
