EAMCET results out; counselling likely from June 17

Nearly 35,000 students who cleared the EAMCET failed in the Intermediate examinations thus losing out on the opportunity to study engineering and medicine.

The EAMCET results were declared here on Wednesday by Deputy Chief Minister Damodar Rajanarsimha. Though there are no qualifying marks for SC and ST candidates in EAMCET, only 77.75 per cent SC candidates and 81.03 per cent ST candidates gained eligibility as the remaining failed in the Intermediate examinations.

Interestingly, only 2.1 lakh candidates gained eligibility for the engineering courses while the State has 3,50,026 seats in 704 institutions this year. Nearly, 1.5 lakh seats will go vacant even if all of them take admission. However, thousands of candidates among these are expected to join IITs, NITs and institutions outside the State. About 31,340 seats are also available in the Pharmacy courses.
Counselling fromJune 17

Competition for the medical seats will be tough as 80,778 candidates cleared the exam out of the 89,311 who appeared.

The Minister said that counselling for engineering courses is likely to be held from June 17 and the process completed by July 31 so that classes can commence from August 1. The details of fee structure are being worked out by the Admission and Fee Regulation Committee (AFRC) where colleges have submitted proposals for fee hike.
Managementquota seats

Mr. Rajanarsimha also clarified that management quota seats (Category B) will be filled through online counselling only giving a fair chance to every candidate. Amendments to G.O. 66 and 67 will be made accordingly for this and fresh regulations will be issued soon.

Candidates who are appearing for Advanced Supplementary examinations to clear their backlogs will get a chance to participate only in the second phase of counselling. Separate ranks will be given to them once their results are declared and the results are expected to be released around June 25.
