Eamcet toppers hail from humble backgrounds

A medical college seat from the farmlands of Nandyal village in Kurnool district never looked a long shot for A. Praveena. A sixth rank in the Eamcet would testify to that.

Hers, however, is not the only life that is to change forever. A number of toppers of this year’s Eamcet come from humble backgrounds, and had with them only the baggage of their dreams.

Seventh-ranker Gautam Reddy made a compelling journey from his father’s small kirana shop in Tatikonda village of Station Ghanpur mandal in Warangal district, to the portals of a medical college.

Medical stream topper Vaddavalli Venkata Vineeth, who hails from the city, also comes from a humble background. His father V. Anjaneyulu works as an accountant.

In the engineering stream, P. Sai Sandeep Reddy bagged the first rank. A native of Podili in Prakasham district, Sandeep’s father is a teacher in a Government social welfare school. Sandeep expects a good rank in the IIT entrance too, and prefers to do his course in Computer Science from IIT Bombay.

Others in the top 10 ranks (engineering) include, G. Srujan Raj (2) K. Gokul (3) K. Sai Kiran (4), Y. Jyotshna (5), V. Vamshi Krishna (6), V. Kranthi (7), K. Dinesh (8), A. Ravi Chandra (9) and B. Gowri Shankar (10).

In the medical stream, the toppers include Y. Rohit Kumar (2), M. Jagadeesh Reddy (3), S.S. Venkatesh (4), Chekuri Ritvik (5), A. Praveena (6), N. Gowtham Reddy (7), S. Chiranjeevi (8), S. Pragna (9) and K. Sukumar (10). Interestingly, most of the medical toppers prefer to be cardiologists.

Top ranks in both engineering and medical streams have gone to students of the Sri Chaitanya-Narayana institutions.
