CBSE’s class X and XII borad exams have already started, and suddenly the central board of secondary education announced the latest change to reduce the number of compartment and improvement exams. This new change will be applicable for all the students. This change is getting a mixed response across the country, some feels that it is sure to take a toll on students. Some others, however, are of the opinion that there isn’t anything wrong with the Board’s move.
In mid of exams this ultimate change is putting an unwanted pressure on the students.
“The latest decision by CBSE will surely affect students’ performance in the ongoing Board exams. One may be good at a few subjects and may be just average in another. So when you get a chance to improve the performance in a particular subject, one will be able to concentrate only at the subject he/she is weaker and do better. With this announcement, they will fail to excel in subjects they are good at also. This is not a wise decision,” says S Ganga, a concerned class X CBSE student.
“I don’t say that the Board has taken a bad decision. There is nothing wrong with it. But they should have announced it earlier. Now the exams have already started and the Board shouldn’t have put this unwanted pressure on students during their exams,” says Devi Kumari, mother of a CBSE student.
However, others say there is no point giving multiple chances to clear exams. Hema A, a physics teacher, says, “A student must be able to clear his papers at one go. He might not get distinction, but he must at least pass with minimum marks. In today’s world, no one gets a second chance. A kid must concentrate on his studies first. After all, he determines the nation’s future.”
