Haryana government grants 50 acres land to IIT Delhi for new campus

Reportedly Haryana government has offered 50 acres land to Indian institute of technology, Delhi for free of cost to set its new campus in Sonepat, Rajiv Gandhi Educational City.
According to sources this site will be developed as an infrastructural expansion of IIT-Delhi, and will include a science and technology park. HRD ministry and Haryana government will fund for this expansion of the institute. Another expansion of IIT-Delhi is also planned around Jhajjar, near Gurgaon. According to officials, the plot in Jhajjar is likely to be used as a research facility as the current campus, which has about 250 acres of functional area, “is not enough for the research needs of the institute”.
The institute has already asked to Haryana state government for 100 acres land around Jhajjar area .
