Reportedly a student team of Indian institute of technology, Bombay has developed an application ‘Social Media reader’ for Facebook. Application was launched on saturday.
What is ‘Social Media Reader’
App is similar to Washington Post Social Reader (launched in 2010) and Guardian Social Reader (launched in 2011), social media reader integrates online news content with the social networking platform (Facebook) showing people what their friends are reading.
A Social Reader app on Facebook helps you know what your friends are reading and will share what you read with your friends thereby giving you access to intriguing articles, ones you have missed and/or ones that would just be fun to skim through.
Once this app is installed, it increases virality of the articles published on website. The app was developed at no cost and will be free for use, for those inside as well as outside the IIT-B community
According to sources this app was developed by a computer science student in less than 10 days.
