From academic year 2013-14 BSc holders in science with mathematics as a subject can directly enter to BE 2nd year courses. However, they must clear engineering graphics or engineering drawing and engineering mechanics of the first-year BE syllabus along with the second-year subjects.
This news was announced by Karnataka higher education minister CT Ravi on Tuesday. He said that lateral entry into engineering courses for BSc holders will be made possible from 2013-14. A science graduate with 45% marks is eligible for lateral entry into a second-year engineering course.
Earlier it was applicable for Diploma holders only but now BSc students can also take advantage of this scheme.
