Education in India – No reservation is needed if there are enough seats – VIT chancellor G Viswanathan

At the inaugural function of an international conference on ‘Innovative Pedagogy in Higher Education for Millennial Teachers’, VIT chancellor G Viswanathan expressed that the higher education in country is not growing as expected. Hesaid that government should change its policies to keep pace with the developed world.
“People think reservation or quota is their birth right. But, they are unable to think that no reservation is needed if there are enough seats for everybody,” he added.
He shared that almost every year 12 crore students are ready to get admission into college, but only 2 crores get success.
“We should open more institutions so higher education is not restricted to the upper class or the wealthy. Governments are not doing enough to increase opportunities for students from the middle and lower class to get a higher education,” he added.
