The first semester of our undergraduate program is divided into two parts. The first part is a 5-week Foundation Program, which is a highly engaging and mandatory component of the curriculum and carries total 4 credits. The second part of the semester will continue subsequently for about 11 weeks with the other courses.
The Foundation Program is a dynamic immersion program that molds the new batch of students in a holistic manner and builds in them the capabilities to positively contribute towards diverse avenues of life. Students will participate in an exciting series of extracurricular activities to build their sense of self-confidence, explore their creative passions, and develop their minds and bodies as well-rounded global citizens. The program is structured around the following five themes:
–Values and Ethics: Focus on fostering a strong sense of ethical judgment and moral fortitude.
– Creativity: Provide channels to exhibit and develop individual creativity by expressing themselves through art, craft, music, singing, media, dramatics, and other related activities.
– Teamwork: Develop a culture of teamwork and group communication.
– Social Awareness: Nurture a deeper understanding of the local and global world and our place in at as concerned citizens of the world.
– Physical Activities & Sports: Engage students in sports and physical activity to ensure healthy physical and mental growth.
The Foundation Program is an “active learning program” specifically designed to achieve the above objectives through a number of enriching activities. The diverse range of interactive sessions will include: guest lectures by eminent thought leaders, field visits to national heritage sites, interactive sessions on social responsibility, journal writing, team sports, performance-based projects in theater arts and music, workshops on sketching, painting and clay modeling with master artisans, and much more. Important Notes:
1. No student will be permitted to take leave during the Foundation Program for any purpose whatsoever. Absence from any part of the program may result into failing the course.
2. We will be putting a lot of emphasis on your physical fitness with the rigorous physical exercises and sports/games. Therefore, bring your sports and games kit for the games that you play (rackets, sports shoes, shorts, track suit, etc.).
3. We will also have cultural sessions in the evening and a cultural festival at the end of program. Bring the musical instruments that you play, or any other item that is required in performing your choice of cultural activity. (Include your best traditional/regional attire too!)
