IIT, CDAC blaming on each other for IIT-NIT common counselling failure

To avoid the problem of vacant seats in premier institutes like IITs and NITs the government decided to launch a IIT-NIT common counselling platform for all these colleges this year, it means if one students has already taken a seat in one of the IITs in any branch he can’t take one more seat in NITS and vice versa. In other words, a candidate with a good score/rank in the JEE-Main (used by NITs) and JEE-Advance (used by IITs) would not have been able to take admission in an IIT unless one gives up one’s allotted seat in an NIT.
IITs announced a separate counselling and it was updated on JEE Advanced official site also. IITs told two reasons behind this separate counselling
1. Delay from CBSE in announcing JEE Main results. JEE Main results were delayed by two days. The new session at the IITs is scheduled to begin on July 18 and so IITs authority could not afford the wait
2. IITs weren’t too confident about the software. IITs pulled out their hands from common counselling partly because of CDAC’s delay in developing a foolproof software, said IIT Delhi’s HC Gupta, who is overseeing the JEE-Advance this year.
A day after Prof. Gupta blamed on CDAC regarding delay from CDAC side, CDAC hit back saying the proposal was sabotaged by Gupta. CDAC is the research and development department under the ministry of communications and information technology.
Gupta categorically refused to cooperate and mentioned that he would not give any data,” said Rajat Moona director of CDAC. The minutes of the meeting, a copy of which is with dna, in fact do mention that Gupta refused to give any data to CDAC before July 8. In his defence, Gupta said he was just following what had been decided by the Joint Admission Board of the IITs.
