IIT Kanpur on Tuesday organised a national seminar on Burner Design and Development. Institute's Prof DP Mishra said "discovery of fire by human beings and subsequent mastery over the combustion process propelled the development of science and technology. The potential of combustion devices was realised during the industrial revolution." Stating that combustion engineering affects every facet of human life,
He added that combustion engineering affects would determine the socio-economic structure of the country in future. tnnHowever, he warned "blatant use of fossil fuel in combustion devices has led to depletion of fossil fuel reserviors which may be exhausted in near future."
Prof DP Mishra was speaking on the topic Low Emission and Energy Efficient LPG Burner after the introductory session. Deputy director of IIT-K Prof SC Srivastava and other faculty members of the institute were present during the seminar.
