In a first, workshop for teens at IIT-B summit

In a first, school students participated in IIT-B’s entrepreneurship summit — E-Summit. The students were introduced to the basics of entrepreneurship at IIT-B’s annual two-day festival that started on Saturday.

With business plan competitions among students from all over India, the E-Summit this year also had innovative start-ups on display, such as a shield from mobile tower radiation and spy surveillance robot for homes.

TeenTrepreneur, an exclusive workshop for school kids at the event, had Sabirul Islam, founder of Inspire 1 million Campaign, UK, encourage teens to start their own start-ups. Islam said, “Our goal is to ensure that youth worldwide are able to break the perception barrier that business requires an office, employees and even large sums of money to get started.”

Popular competitions such as the Eureka business contest and Idea Blaze received an overwhelming response. Sumeet Wadhwa, manager at the IIT-B E-Cell, said, “The crowd was double of what we expected, resulting in change of venues for different events to accomodate everyone.”
