students informed of board practicals just one day before exams

In Tamil Nadu state class 10 students were completely surprised on Tuesday when they were told that some of them had to take their board exam practicals on Wednesday. Schools blamed the delay in announcing the practical dates on the last minute decision of the directorate of government examinations.
School principals said they were informed of the dates on Monday evening at a principals’ meeting. “The intimation came very late. As we know that the exams are around the corner we had our students prepared for the practicals,” said correspondent of NSN Matriculation Higher Secondary School Chitra Prasad.
“There seems to be a lack of co-ordination between department officials. They should give more importance to the revision exams,” said a school principal.
The practicals are to be conducted in two phases, with the first spell from February 23 to 25 and the second spell from February 25 to 28. The second spell clashes with the dates of the third revision exam, planned from February 25 to March 4.
